The family of the Flaviviridae, a genus of positive-strand RNA viruses, contains 3 genera: (i) the flaviviruses, (ii) the pestiviruses and (iii) the hepaciviruses, to which belongs Hepatitis C virus (HCV). HCV is transmitted with blood contact. Flavivirus is transmitted by the bite from an infected arthropod (mosquito or tick).
