Description:
EpiCD™ Insect Cell Culture Medium is a chemically-defined (CD), free of serum, proteins or animal-origin components, and hydrolysates sterile medium for suspension culture of insect cell lines (including Drosophila S2, Sf9, ExpiSf9, Sf21, or other lepidopteran cell lines) to achieve rapid cell growth, high density culture and large scale production of recombinant proteins expressed using the baculovirus expression vector system (BEVS) or transfected stable insect cell lines.
Applications:
This medium supports multiple applications including:
- Support multiple insect cell line suspension culture without FBS for low density culture.
- A minimum of 3% FBS should be added for rapid cell growth and high-density culture.
- Supports direct or sequential adaptation.
- Compatible with a variety of commonly used transfection reagents, such as ExpiFectamine, Fugene.
- Scalable production of recombinant protein or antibody to gram-scale yields.
- Complexed lipids for enhanced stability.

Culture Conditions:
- Cell medium: EpiCD™ Insect Cell Culture Medium, sterile liquid, ready to use or 3-10% FBS as needed per user’s application.
- Cell line: Drosophila S2, Sf9, ExpiSf9, Sf21 or other lepidopteran cell lines for suspension cultures.
- Culture type: Suspension culture with cell density > 0.5 x 106 cells/mL.
- Culture container: shake flasks, TPPs, bioreactors, etc.
- Temperature range: 27℃±5, temperature shift as needed for cell culture conditions.
- Shaker incubator setting: shaker speed 110-130 rpm (both CO2 and humidity are not required).
